Service of thanksgiving for Saint Michael’s

THE WORK of Saint Michael’s will be celebrated next month at a special thanksgiving service.

Residents from across the Harrogate district are invited to attend the service at the newly refurbished Trinity Methodist Church, Leeds Road, Harrogate, on Sunday 30 September.

The annual thanksgiving event offers people a meaningful opportunity to come together to acknowledge the important role the charity, based at Hornbeam Park, Harrogate, plays in helping local people live with terminal illness and bereavement.

Tony Collins, Chief Executive of Saint Michael’s, said:

“We would like to invite you all to join us to celebrate the difference Saint Michael’s makes to our local communities and give thanks for all the people who help us to deliver specialist care and support to more than 2,400 local people each year. During the service we will give thanks for the commitment and skills of our staff and for the generosity of all our volunteers and supporters. We will also give thanks for all our patients and those close to them, and there will be an opportunity to light candles in memory of loved ones.”

The service will be led by the Revd. Dr Jonathan Singh, the chaplain of Saint Michael’s, and the Rev’d Mark Godrey of Trinity Methodist Church.

“The service will suitable for all people, whatever their age, or whether they have a particular faith or none at all”

said Tony.

Saint Michael’s currently offers hospice care, specialised support at home, lymphoedema support, bereavement support through its ‘Just B’ bereavement service and educational opportunities for professionals working in palliative care.

Saint Michael’s receives little government funding, relying on voluntary donations from local communities to continue its work.
The thanksgiving service will be held at Trinity Methodist Church, Leeds Road, Harrogate, on Sunday September 30 at 3.30pm, with refreshments served at the conclusion.
