Network and Nibbles
LOCAL businesses will get the chance to build relationships with other members of the local and regional business community at a networking event to be held next week.
Saint Michael’s, the local charity offering specialist care and support to families living with terminal illness and bereavement, will host a ‘Network and Nibbles’ evening at Raworths Solicitors, Station Parade, Harrogate on Tuesday September 11.
Along with traditional networking, guests will also have the opportunity to learn how the charity’s corporate supporters, including its Charity of the Year partners and members of its Guild of Patrons and Business 500 Club, are benefitting from their association with Saint Michael’s.
One local company who have formalised their support by joining the charity’s Business 500 Club is Raworths Solicitors. Jonathan Mortimer, head of dispute resolution at one of Harrogate’s largest and longest established legal firms, said:
“Raworths decided to adopt a charity to support for three reasons. We wanted to put something back into our local community, we wanted fresh ideas for bringing together our staff as a team, and we wanted additional opportunities to market our business to a wider audience. Saint Michael’s met all three requirements very easily. The fundraising events organised by the charity are the best in Yorkshire and provide the team-building ideas we need. The Business 500 Club also offers an opportunity to raise our profile in the business community. It is difficult to think of a better fit”.
Tony Collins, chief executive of the charity that now cares for more than 2,400 people every year, is keen to highlight the mutually beneficial nature of such local business support.
Tony said: “The local business community has a habit of turning Saint Michael’s ambition into reality and they were a driving force behind our ambition to double the numbers of local people we care for, which became a reality in 2011 – 18 months ahead of schedule. Each business that supports Saint Michael’s, be it by sponsoring one of our events, taking part in one of our fundraising campaigns or by joining our Guild of Patrons, is enabling us to continue to increase our impact on the communities we serve. These are the very same communities in which their customers and employees live, which provides a powerful platform to demonstrate corporate social responsibility, enhance company profile and build staff motivation. We invite anyone interested in learning more about the benefits of this local corporate social responsibility to come along to what is always a very popular networking event”.
Network and Nibbles will be held on Tuesday September 11 between 6pm and 8pm.
The event is open to all but delegates are asked to confirm their attendance by calling Saint Michael’s on (01423) 878 190 or via email, events@saintmichaelshospice.org.
