Saint Michael’s staff blaze a fundraising trail for success

Saint Michael’s staff are leading by example becoming some of the first to support the charity’s hot new fundraising challenge.

Head of Inpatient Services, Kathy Newbould and Bereavement Support Worker Clare Godden, have both signed up the take part in the charity’s firewalk on Sunday October 28.

The challenge will see scores of fundraisers hot foot it down a 20feet track of burning hot embers to help raise vital funds for the charity which helps more than 2,400 local people to live with terminal illness and bereavement each year.

Kathy said: “We are passionate about the care we deliver and raising the funds needed to make sure more people can benefit from our specialist services.”

Clare added: “This event really appealed to me because not only is it an exciting personal challenge and but it’s a very different and unique way of supporting Saint Michael’s”

The event will take place at The Academy Health Club, Oakdale Place, Harrogate.

Each participant will tread over a pit of white hot coals with a mean temperature of 1236 degrees Fahrenheit.

The event is one of the number of fun attractions at the Academy’s Halloween party night.

Registration for the Walk on Fire costs £20 and each walker must commit to raise a minimum of £75 in sponsorship for Saint Michael’s.

The Academy’s Halloween party begins at 4pm and the first walker will tread the coals at 8pm.

Places are limited and participants must register before Friday October 19.
