Thanks to to our community for continued support in our milestone year

This letter to our community was featured in the Harrogate Advertiser, 28 December 2017

In Saint Michael’s milestone 30th anniversary year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our community for continuing to be the driving force behind local hospice care.

You have been alongside us every minute, every day and every year for three decades, ensuring local people living with terminal illness can continue to access services which treat them with compassion, respect and dignity.

We simply could not have reached this important anniversary without you: Our volunteers, fundraisers, shoppers, business partners and awareness raisers – we are so very grateful for your support.

Hospice care involves everyone and more importantly it is for everyone, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender or diagnosis.

But we know that nationally, one in four people who need end of life care are still not getting the right support at the right time.

There has never been a greater need for hospice care – or a greater need for all of us, who support it.

So this year, as well as reflecting on our journey so far, we are looking ahead to ways we can extend our reach, break down barriers to accessing care and ensure no one is left to face the challenges of terminal illness alone.  Together we have moved mountains, overcome obstacles and faced challenges. Together we can do even more.

As we look ahead to the next 30 years, we hope you will continue to invest your time, skills, passion, commitment and support in your local hospice in 2018 and beyond.

Thank you, and best wishes for a peaceful Christmas and New Year,

Tony Collins,

Chief Executive

Saint Michael’s Hospice.
