Congratulations volunteer retail team
Our invaluable team of retail volunteers do an incredible job making our 11 community stores across the district not only look spectacular, but also feel welcoming and inviting.
So we were delighted when the members of this special team were recently shortlisted in the category of unsung heroes at the Destination Harrogate Hospitality and Tourism Awards.
Though the team may not have taken out the award at the ceremony held earlier this month, simply being shortlisted recognises their hard work and dedication and spotlights the fact that each volunteer remains a hospice hero to all of us at Saint Michael’s and throughout the local community.
Chief Executive of Saint Michael’s Tony Collins said, “Volunteers remain at the heart of everything we do at Saint Michael’s; in fact it was a small group of dedicated volunteers that helped form the charity three decades ago, in 1987.
“Now, in our 30th year, volunteers are involved in almost every aspect of the vital services Saint Michael’s provides to the local community – we simply couldn’t continue to provide support for people living with terminal illness and bereavement without the incredible dedication of our volunteers.”
Over the past financial year, the unwavering support of Saint Michael’s retail volunteers has helped the charity achieve a record breaking income of £1m; an accomplishment which has helped Saint Michael’s to achieve greater impact for local families affected by terminal illness across the Harrogate district.
Tony went on to say, “Saint Michael’s is proud that the local community have had the opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the efforts of this important team; to simply be shortlisted in what is a very competitive award category is nothing short of incredible.
“Congratulations and thank you for all that you do for Saint Michael’s.”
