Business ‘pawtners’ join Yorkshire’s Biggest Dog Walk!
Diane Mason, alongside her business ‘pawtner’ Zola, has been a supporter of Saint Michael’s through the Business 500 Club for three years now – so it was only natural that the pair would sign up for the exciting summertime event Yorkshire’s Biggest Dog Walk.
When Diane met two-year-old Romanian rescue Zola eight months ago there was undeniable canine-chemistry between the pair.
“She is an absolute darling. She’s just lovely and a real character. Very calm and rarely barks, as I run my business alone, she has really become my business partner too.
“I know this is a cliché to say, but I rescued her and really, in her own way, she has rescued me.”
When Diane heard about Yorkshire’s Biggest Dog Walk, she couldn’t think of a more exciting way to support her hometown hospice.
“Zola and I are completely excited. It’s a great opportunity for us to meet like-minded people and for Zola to have a sniff around and do her favourite thing, walk, with lots of new friends!”
It was a personal connection that drew Diane to her local hospice, joining the business club with her training and development business, DMM Training and Development, following her Father’s treatment at Saint Michael’s Day Therapy unit in 2010.
“My Father received incredible care at Day Therapy, and particularly commented on the PAT dogs who visit the hospice. Being a farmer, having the dogs around gave him a huge amount of pleasure. With Saint Michael’s being my local hospice, it felt like a natural decision to support the hospice through my business.
“I am a great believer in the idea that we all know somebody who has been touched by hospice care, so to ensure these facilities continue to be here for locally is something that is really important to me,” said Diane.
We are hoping to see lots of other local businesses and their pawfect partners join us, and people like Diane and Zola, on Sunday July 29 at the grounds surrounding Thorp Perrow near Bedale for Yorkshire’s Biggest Dog Walk.
Online sign-up closes at midday tomorrow, Thursday July 26, but don’t worry! If you decide to join us on the day you can sign-up at the event for just £10, covering your puppo, doggo, pupperino (and anything in between) as well as two humans.
