Celebrating the contribution of our trustees this Trustee Week
This #TrusteesWeek we’re celebrating the contribution of a very special group of Saint Michael’s volunteers – our trustees, who donate their valuable time and expertise as volunteer representatives of the community.
Saint Michael’s trustees guide the charity’s overall strategic direction, effectiveness and accountability to ensure Saint Michael’s achieves its mission.
Chair of trustees, Lesley Bers, joined the board in 2002, and has led the group since 2008. As Saint Michael’s drives forward its ambitious 2020 Vision strategy (http://www.saintmichaelshospice.org/abou…/our-strategic-plan), Lesley explains how this governing group has developed to enable the organisation to grow and meet the needs of our community.
Lesley said: “Saint Michael’s Hospice has changed in many ways since I first became a trustee.
“We developed a skills matrix for the recruitment of trustees, ensuring that we had as many local experts in their relevant field as possible. This means our trustees are up to date and business-savvy and can help our charity negotiate the ever changing landscape that is the healthcare sector today.
“We hope our trustees enjoy working with a high powered team and take pride in being part of a successful organisation providing much needed local services; this is certainly what I have gained from my years with Saint Michael’s Hospice.”
As the charity marks three decades serving the Harrogate district community, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our trustees, past and present, for their invaluable contribution to local hospice care.
