Companies inspired to support local hospice

Local companies have raised thousands of pounds to help local families living with terminal illness and bereavement across the Harrogate District, as part of Saint Michael’s Hospice You’re Inspired competition.

The annual ‘Apprentice’ style competition organised by Saint Michael’s Hospice tasked the businesses with raising as much money as possible during the month of October. Activities included auctions, raffles, tombola’s, bespoke jewellery and sales of reindeer food amongst many others.

An awards night was held 11th November with the Yorkshire Hotel providing both the venue and reception drinks. Hosted by Simon Cotton MD of Yorkshire based HRH Hotel Group and David Ritson General Manager of the Old Swan hotel in Harrogate, and sponsored by CNG, with the winner’s prizes from Live for Today.

Judges Jean Burdett- PA to the Directors at CNG, Chris Mason- Manager of the Turkish Baths and Russ Hirst- Owner of Square Peg Network announced the following winners;

Community Award – Harrogate Aesthetics

Shining Stars Award – Hugh Rice

Innovation Award – Infinity & Co

Above & Beyond Award – Margaret Brookes from Stockeld Park

Best Newcomer Award – Primark

Runner up – Absolute Commercial Interiors

Winner – Stockeld Park

Georgina Brookes-Burgess from Stockeld Park said “The team and I are thrilled to have won! We have missed out on the top spot for the past 5 years, so are over the moon to finally pick up the winner’s trophy! We love taking part in this challenge for Saint Michael’s Hospice, it’s so much fun! The Hospice is a fabulous place that helps so many people, so to be able to contribute feels amazing!”

Safiya Shaikh from runners up Absolute Commercial Interiors said “It was a pleasure to take part in the You’re Inspired challenge for another year running. Not only was it great to work together as a team on something a little different, but it was fantastic to do so whilst raising money for such a deserving cause. It was a bonus that we came runners up, too!”
